Frequently Asked Questions

New and existing patients can use our Frequently Asked Questions page to learn about appointments, costs, and more.

Do you take walk ins?
We do not take walk-ins. Please register online as a new patient through our Patient Portal, or call us at (706) 507-9209 to schedule an appointment.

Do you take same-day appointments?
In an effort to maintain the credibility of our schedule, and out of respect for our patients who have waited for an appointment, we are rarely ever able to see same-day patients. If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911 or visit the emergency room.

What if I miss an appointment?
If you are more than 15 minutes late, we will reschedule you for the next available appointment.

How do I cancel an appointment?
If you have a scheduled appointment and are unable to keep it, please call as soon as possible to reschedule at (706) 507-9209. There are scheduled patients who, due to the extent of their illness, may need to be seen earlier. Canceling or rescheduling your appointment prior to the date of service makes it possible to bring those patients in sooner.

Can I reach you after hours?
Simply call us at (706) 507-9209, then follow the prompts for an emergency to connect you with an on call provider.

Where do I get my prescription refilled?
Call your pharmacy directly to request one instead of calling MercyMed.

Do you take insurance?
We take most commercial insurances.

What if I have no insurance?
No problem. If you are uninsured, we will charge you a reduced rate, and place you on a sliding fee scale for each appointment.

For patients without insurance, please gather household income information to have available when our staff contacts you for an appointment. This includes the number of people that live in your household as well as total income for the household, including but not limited to:

  • Employment income
  • Social Security Benefits
  • Food Stamps
  • Disability
  • Child Support, etc.

Having this information available will make your registration smooth and easy, allowing us to treat you as soon as possible.

How do you determine my fee if I don’t have insurance?
We will do a financial screening to determine total household size and income. The cost of a visit starts at $35 and ranges to $65 or can go as high as 50% off a regular cost of visit.

MercyMed offers a discounted sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay.

MercyMed encourages you to make frequent use of the Patient Portal.

You can see your upcoming appointments, request/cancel/reschedule appointments, request prescription refills, see lab results, and ask direct questions to your provider.

We are here to help.

If you need assistance with a question, please contact the office and we can help you get started. We look forward to caring for you!
